Our Trainers

Chris Leblanc

Chris graduated in 2003 with an Honours Bachelor of Physical and Health Education, majoring in Health Promotion from Laurentian University in Sudbury, Ontario. During his last year, Chris did an internship role with the Laurentian Hospital’s Long Term Continuing Care unit working with patients who had suffered strokes.

Working with these patients in pool therapy and adaptive sport and recreation, he quickly realized how gratifying it is to be involved with improving someone’s quality of life. After his graduation Chris sought out employment at GoodLife Fitness, Canada’s largest fitness chain. As a personal trainer, Chris worked with hundreds of individuals with varying needs and goals including motor vehicle accidents, spinal and disc injuries, sport conditioning (golf, squash, hockey), shoulder and knee pain, core dysfunction, pre/post natal, and many more.

As a result of his continued success with his clientele and his passion and pursuit of exercise, diet and lifestyle knowledge, GoodLife Fitness created new personal trainer designation levels promoting Chris to the first Level 5 and Level 6 in the company in 2006 and 2008 respectively.

To keep up with the needs of his clients, Chris sought out additional resources completing over 35 professional certifications all across North America. During his studies, he discovered the C.H.E.K Institute – a corrective, holistic, exercise kinesiology program, and has been studying intensely with them since 2006. He is a certified C.H.E.K Practitioner Level 2, Holistic Lifestyle Coach Level 3, and a Golf Performance Specialist. Currently, Chris is the highest ranked C.H.E.K Practitioner in Ottawa as listed on chekconnect.com.

The knowledge and beliefs gained from the C.H.E.K Institute had a significant impact on Chris and his clientele’s results. These new skills and strategies redirected Chris’s approach and after 7 years in a commercial gym it became apparent that his surroundings no longer met all the needs of his clientele.

In the spring of 2010, Chris began a new journey opening CHI Training Studio, aligning his practice, knowledge and surroundings to maximize his service.

Taylor Kretzul

Throughout the past five years, Taylor has worked diligently to become the best personal trainer he can be for his clients.  He prides himself on helping clients, all of whom present unique and specific challenges, to achieve their personal goals.  No client is the same, and thus, he is continually motivated to learn something new every day.  He approaches his daily life with an energetic and positive attitude that inspires clientele and fellow trainers.

In 2008, Taylor began working as a personal trainer at GoodLife Fitness under Chris Leblanc’s leadership, where he was responsible for developing personalized fitness programs for his client’s needs and goals.  He discovered a passion for holistic health and corrective exercise through the C.H.E.K Institute’s teachings.  He is a Holistic Lifestyle Coach Level 1 and is currently working on obtaining his Exercise Coach certification as he has completed all the necessary prerequisite courses.

He moved on to work at The Athletic Club in 2011, where he continued to practice his trade.  In 2013, he was offered a position at Family Physiotherapy Centres as a program facilitator for an active aging senior’s program.  This allowed him to focus primarily on strength and mobility of his clients.  He feels incredibly fortunate to have a breadth of experience training a wide variety of clients in both commercial gyms and non-profit health and fitness organizations.

Taylor is wholly committed to improving the overall well-being of his clients through nutrition, exercise, and lifestyle coaching.  He thoroughly believes a holistic approach of body and mind can motivate people of all walks of life to pursue optimal health.  He understands that a balance of empathy, high energy, and trustworthiness makes the difference between an average leader and an exceptional one.

In the spring of 2014, Taylor joined the CHI training Studio team; not merely as a job, but as the career he was meant to do.
